Ian began his piano studies shortly before turning four, under the guidance of Professor Lílian Meire Silva Carneiro de Mendonça at Lílian Centro de Música — one of Brazil’s most respected music academies. Immersed in a rigorous environment of international competitions and cultural exploration, he developed not only a passion for music, but an early commitment to excellence.
From the start, Ian actively participated in recitals and festivals, consistently earning first-place honors in piano competitions. These experiences instilled in him a deep sense of discipline, resilience, and the fulfillment that comes from mastering complexity. His training extended beyond piano to include drums and flute, enriched by close contact with celebrated national and international musicians.
Music offered more than technique — it exposed him to diverse cultures, ideas, and ways of thinking. It sparked a lifelong curiosity and a global perspective that would later shape his academic path. The focus, patience, and creativity cultivated in his musical education laid the foundation for his evolution into a thinker, builder, and innovator.
His journey from young pianist to interdisciplinary learner reflects the convergence of artistic sensitivity and intellectual ambition. Experience in Computer Science, with emphasis on Information Systems. Developing two Scientific Initiations, mainly researching the following topics Brain-Computer Interface and Human-Computer Interface. He worked on the understanding and treatment of biological signals, obtained by processing signals in the forearm muscles using Electromyography (EMG) analysis. Working on the development of two Proofs of Concept (PoC) focused on the creation of assistive technologies capable of assisting in health care. Developed a mechanical arm (PoC) capable of performing functions based on the collection of EMG signals at infinitely lower costs than other current prostheses in the Brazilian market, aiming to help people with motor disabilities for a better quality of life.
